Kundalini

posted by Bodichitta and a lifelong firsthand experiences with these phenomenons I am reposting three entries which refer to it. In 2007 Gene Kieffer who was still on Zaadz then sent me some of material about current research. As director of Kundalini Research Foundation and personally connected earlier with Gopi Krishna -as much as with Carl Friedrich von Weizsäcker  - he has a long -and seemingly singular interest in developing research further.

IN other traditions like Zen these phenomema are simply regarded as makyo. And indeed, from causal or nondual point of view this maybe so.

Aproaches like the ones of Ken Wilber and AQAL in progess, maybe SDi in progress too, have at least the potential to crystallize more integral insight from a postmetaphysical point of view. Maybe a new research project for next 10-30 years can bring more light into it.

Something has to be however initiated in this direction. As Ken Wilber quoted Hermann Melville in "Many Faces of Terrorism", Chapter 11:

"Better to sink in boundless deeps, than float in vulgar shoals."

I happened to learn about Kundalini from one book by Gopi Krishna. Here you are saying it is still under research. I went thro all the links. I feel that all can be benefitted by further details. I understand that it is not so simple like so many people thinking. Some have tried certain levels and stopped. That way it will be not useful or feasible. There are misunderstandings too.

Absolutely!

Even he theoretical framework is a challenge.

However, deep personal understanding of these experiences is necessary right now. In the disciplines of medicine, psychology, anthropology and for all who need guidance in their often overwhelming personal experience.

I am awaiting the new edition of Ken Wilber from his 1986 book TRANSFORMATIONS OF CONSCIOUSNESS,which had aleady excellent references to its psychopathology too.

Albert, thank you so much for this information. I have adopted a very firm practice…I call it, “Curiousity kills the Cat…!” Without question, kundalini experiences have shot wild energies up my spine, blew my mind and became a hindrance……but that passed. And I find not playing around with the energies, they will find their way! Sit always in stunning awareness! I will say, I find it the most distracting experience up-to-date having the spinal fluid travel up the spine!!! I always reflect…uh, gross! But still just sit! Just sit!! Just sit!!! I used to play around often - well, always, with the energy, but once I realized how much damage and wrong turns I was taking, I learned….’curiousity kills the cat…’ And once I began to just sit! just sit in sheer brilliance….all that needs to happen, happens! At least that’s the experience I’ve come to so far! When the kundalini was awakening in me….oh, mygod, I would lie my head on the wall behind me and cry, sometimes scream….sweat, shake…and a few other things I will not mention! But it passed and I acclimated. Awesome….I just love this work, the flowering, this thing called life! Thank you, Albert, so much. I adore your mind!

Thanks Cheyenne very much for your vivid descriptions! Yes..what a wild ride…even very difficult, if not imposible to communicate in a public thread.

Its such a vast space between bright and dark, absolutely wild and far beyond the mind.

Its never for the fainthearted and demands utter change of life and curiosity kills the cat”:)
